I'm sure you are aware of the change to Daylight Savings Time that begins this year. Beginning in 2007 Daylight Savings Time starts on the second Sunday in March and ends the first Sunday in November. 11.x For HP-UX 11.x, there are patches available to update the OS for the Daylight Savings Time changes for 2007. The required patches are: Patch Release PHCO_36096 11.00 PHCO_36097 11.11 PHCO_36098 11.23 We have cached these patches on our website. Click here to download the appropriate patch for your system. 10.x There is no official patch from HP for 10.x systems. However, we have fully tested (right click this link and select "Save Target/Link As") this tztab file on 10.x versions and found no issues. Transfer it in binary mode to your system as /usr/lib/tztab rather than applying a patch. To verify the 10.x file has been transferred correctly check the file size and checksum value: # ll /usr/lib/tztab -r--r--r-- 2 bin bin 21179 Feb 22 13:54 /usr/lib/tztab # cksum /usr/lib/tztab 2639680545 21179 /usr/lib/tztab Installation Notes The patch or new tztab file can be installed at any time. Our recommendation is to install it at a time of low system activity to reduce any potential for negative impact. Furthermore, we recommend a reboot be scheduled at a convenient time prior March 11, 2007, to insure that all system-related processes are referencing the proper information. HP has a "clearing-house" of DST2007 information for all platforms and devices that may be impacted. Click here for details. Some other applications are known to utilize alternatives in applying time offsets rather than the tztab method. Java is one such example. On any system that uses Java it is important to either update Java to a version that has the updated DST table or to update the table that Java uses for the DST conversion. The preferred option is to update the version of Java. SUN provides Java based tool that can update Java's DST table for some older versions. This tool is available at http://java.sun.com/javase/tzupdater_README.html You are encouraged to verify specific languages, middleware, and applications used on your system are all compliant with the new DST changes. |
